The National Institute for Health Care Management, very recently published an article that came out with a startling estimate that there are over fourteen million people do not have any health insurance.
In California alone, this figure is more than six million. The study says that most of the people who are uninsured are those who belong to the poorer sections of the society. Though the American Federal Government as well as the State of California are spending billions of dollars every year to provide free California Medical Insurance, a few million are yet to enroll either under affordable private insurance plans or take advantage of the free California Medical Insurance plans.
It is quite difficult to fathom as to why people are not willing to enroll themselves for the affordable and free California Medical Insurance plans. Another bizarre finding is that more than one third of the six million uninsured people in California can actually afford to buy their own medical insurance but do not choose to do so. These people earn an annual income of over $ 54000 every year.
It is not as if insurance plans are very expensive and not affordable in the state of California. Nothing can be farther from the truth. There are a huge number of private players in the market who provide very affordable medical insurance plans. These plans come with a lot of benefits. Likewise you have the public funded medical insurance programs that are hugely popular and very affordable. The state also provides free California medical Insurance for people who cannot afford to pay for their own medical expenses.
It is important that the insurance companies promote the importance of having at least a basic California Medical Insurance Plan instead of having no coverage at all. Lastly, though California Medical Insurance is affordable, a lot needs to be done to bring the uninsured into the medical insurance fold.
